- ➤ Plonk, a popular restaurant and wine bar in downtown Missoula, is up for sale at $4 million as owner Brett Evje seeks a new operator to continue its legacy — the sale includes the building, liquor license, furniture, equipment and inventory while the business remains open under regular hours. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Montana’s economy is expected to grow at a modest rate of 2.6% in 2026, with inflation near 3% and wage gains continuing despite high housing costs, the University of Montana’s economic research arm reported. Tax cuts and growth in tech and healthcare may help bolster consumer spending, officials said. Missoula Current
- ➤ According to University of Montana experts, Montana lost jobs for the first time since the pandemic last year while average wages increased by more than 5%, ranking best among the states. Growth came in education, health, and business services as federal, hospitality, and natural resources jobs declined and rents rose. Montana Public Radio

- ➤ The Missoula Public Library hosts National News Literacy Week events that teach people to tell fact from fiction in today’s digital age. Executive director Slaven Lee said the library is offering tech programs and community groups across the county to help people learn and stay informed. KPAX

- ➤ The city is moving forward with a plan to secure a sewage pipeline under the Clark Fork River that is at risk of collapse, following investigations since 2023 that showed erosion has exposed the pipe in the riverbed. Missoulian
- ➤ On Wednesday, about 50 public land advocates met outside the Lolo National Forest office to call for meetings before the Forest Service ends the 2001 Roadless Rule. More than 4,000 Montanans signed the petition, and a final decision is expected this fall. Missoula Current
