COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The former Lolo school building is being donated to Holt Heritage Center and will be relocated from Highway 93 to Highway 12 using steel beams and a hydraulic jacking machine in early summer. Owner Ernie Otoupalik said the structure will be moved safely near Travelers' Rest State Park.  KPAX

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Runner's Edge — after nearly 25 years downtown — is operating from a temporary location at 312 N. Higgins to serve the community during its expansion project. Renovations are expected to finish by the end of May so customers can soon enjoy a larger space for community events.  KPAX
  • Montana Lottery has announced changes to Montana Millionaire for its 20th anniversary. The 2026 game will offer six $1M prizes, 100,000 extra tickets, and new drawings with sales starting Sunday, Nov. 1 at 5:30 a.m. at local retailers.  Newstalk KGVO

CRIME NEWS

  • State prosecutors are investigating a Montana loophole in luxury vehicle sales that costs the state over $10 million in lost tax revenue, according to a California agency director.  Missoulian
  • A new study ranks Montana among the top five states for nightlife violence (104 incidents per 100k residents) and shows that bar conflicts increase in March and October.  Newstalk KGVO

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The South Zone of Mount Jumbo reopened yesterday with access to the Saddle Trail, while the North Zone remains closed until May 1 to protect wintering wildlife — especially elk using lower elevations. Visitors are urged to keep a safe distance from the animals.  KPAX

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Nonprofit groups recently filed a motion with the Public Service Commission contesting a December order allowing NorthWestern Energy to withhold data center details in letters of intent. The motion claims the decision weakens transparency and may burden ratepayers with higher energy costs.  Missoula Current

  • Spencer Laird of Missoula Loyola was named the 2025-26 Gatorade Montana girls basketball player of the year on Friday—averaging 28.5 points over 20 games while excelling in academics and community work; she committed to Stanford and is the first from her school to receive the honor.  KPAX
  • Baker, Florence, Malta and Missoula Loyola advanced to the semis at the 2026 Class B state basketball tournament in Bozeman after winning their first-round games (top seeds joined by a familiar opponent).  Missoulian
