🌲 Environment
UM and the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes are working together to build a new air quality network on the Flathead Reservation — using affordable PurpleAir monitors to track wildfire smoke in real time.
The system, funded by NOAA and community donations, will help schools and local centers take steps to protect people’s health.
🏛️ Government
On Tuesday, March 18, Director Jillien Streit of the Montana Department of Agriculture visited Turner Farms on South Third Street West and praised the Turners for their diverse food production methods.
The family, who started the farm in 2006, offers meat, fresh produce and on-farm events — including camps for local kids — that strengthen their connection with the community.
🏈 Sports
The Missoula Big Sky Eagles opened their inaugural season with a 6-4 win over the Butte Bulldogs at Big Sky Park on March 21st—showing strong energy on the field.
Coach Ryan Roche said the win is a promising start and the team is eager to build on their success—raising hopes for a competitive season.
The Frenchtown Broncs played their debut preseason game Saturday at Big Sky Park where they beat Bigfork 16-6—senior third baseman Kaden Blowers delivered a walk-off two-run home run that sparked the win and showcased the team’s veteran strength.
The team is expected to push for a state berth as they prepare to face competitors like Hamilton, Florence and Missoula Big Sky in the state tournament.
