CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Montana Museum of Art and Culture in Missoula now displays a new exhibit that features work by 19 under 39 artists who show a mix of Montana history and modern views—each piece reflects personal experiences and creative growth. The exhibit is supported by UM alumni Michele and Loren Hansen and was selected from over 100 submissions by a statewide panel. KPAX
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Missoula voters will see three school funding levies on the May 6 ballot as the MCPS board sets an elementary operation levy of $384,947, a high school operation levy of $164,315 and a $1 million safety levy to ease a tight budget. The board also approved extra levy increases (amounting to $1.6 million for elementary and $1.8 million for high school) to help cover rising transportation and special education costs. KPAX

- ➤ After House Bill 121 took effect on Thursday, the University of Montana changed signs in seven restrooms covering 38 stalls to meet the law restricting bathroom access to sex assigned at birth — Missoula County updated public-use restrooms in key government buildings and public spaces to comply with the new regulation. University officials noted that while some students felt frustrated, processes for addressing concerns remain in place. KPAX
- ➤ On Friday, the Montana Senate debated wolf management bills including HB 176, which would allow unlimited hunting over a threshold of 550 animals—also exempting Yellowstone—and HB 258 that would extend the hunting season; all three bills passed second reading and now must pass a third reading before being sent back to the House if approved. - ➤ Bitterroot firefighters from Florence Rural Fire District and 3 Mile Fire Department trained on a burning house Saturday to learn real fire behavior—crews set individual rooms ablaze and then put out the flames to gain hands-on experience. KPAX
