  • East Missoula will open a new community garden (at Lions Park) on May 3 to help residents in a food desert get fresh food since the area lacks a grocery store. The project is led by East Missoula United, Garden City Harvest, and Missoula County and will welcome visitors (10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.) to join the grand opening.  KPAX

  • A fatal rollover crash on MT-200 near mile marker 14 claimed the life of a 23-year-old Potomac man when his eastbound Toyota Tundra veered off the road, struck a power pole and overturned at 1:22 a.m. on April 5 — speed is suspected as a factor.  MontanaRightNow

  • Helena native Trenton Wright, a Capital High graduate, is one of the top 64 American Idol contestants chosen from more than 140,000 auditioners. He began recording his music in his dorm and now, with support from Montana fans and praise from music stars — his next round airs today.  KPAX

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Missoula County's Boys and Girls Club launched a new weekday Homeschool Club for youth ages 4 to 12 to help 1,200 homeschooled children build friendships outside the home. The club meets 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the basement of Immanuel Lutheran Church and offers activities such as Lego robotics, 3D printing & D&D.  KPAX
