  • Missoula Parks & Recreation announced that several parks and fields are opening earlier than expected due to the favorable spring weather. The openings include FMRP Softball & Multi-Use Fields, McCormick Park Softball Fields, & Playfair Park Softball/Baseball & Multi-Use Fields as residents are encouraged to enjoy the early access.  MontanaRightNow

CULTURE NEWS

  • Visitors enjoyed the opening of the Visions of Lewis and Clark Kite Exhibit at Travelers' Rest State Park on Sunday as kites soared overhead and families joined kite making stations — local mascots provided additional tips on flying. More than 30 artist-designed kites inspired by the expedition will be displayed across Missoula County this summer at locations like the University Center, the Public Library and the new airport terminal.  KPAX

  • Ecology Project International will host an online silent auction from April 21 to 27 to support youth conservation education and celebrate its 25th anniversary (coinciding with Earth Week).   • Data from VinePair.com shows that Missoula leads Montana in excessive drinking with 24.9% of adults drinking too much—only two U.S. cities have higher percentages. The rankings are based on 2023 county health data and compare figures from states including Iowa and Wisconsin.  Newstalk KGVO

  • Cooke City is gaining recognition as one of the best small towns for viewing the Northern Lights, thanks to its proximity to Yellowstone National Park, which has just opened for the season.   • On Saturday the Montana women’s tennis team rallied to win 4-3 at the Peak Racquet Club after trailing most of the match, with freshmen Olivia Moir and Kate Prichard securing key three-set wins—turning the game around.
