- ➤ In Thompson Falls, Montana, Patrol Base Abbate gives veterans a free retreat where they can join activities like jujitsu, weightlifting, and art, created by USMC Lt Col Tom Schueman after losing fellow Marines. Broadway stopped a black Toyota Prius missing license plates and arrested 73-year-old Edwin Cuch, whose slurred speech and signs of intoxication—highlighted by a nearly empty bottle of Black Velvet Whiskey found in the car—led to charges including felony DUI, driving with a suspended license, lacking liability insurance, possession of an open alcoholic beverage container, and failure to display license plates with a bond set at $10,000. - ➤ Lawmakers in Montana continue to debate proposals for property tax relief as the Legislature enters its final three weeks. The Senate Taxation Committee held hearings on Monday for several bills—including one to lower tax rates on residential, commercial and agricultural properties—and they could vote on key measures as soon as Tuesday. - ➤ The Montana Legislature approved Senate Bill 188 that sets rules for community solar projects to let renters and apartment dwellers join solar panels and save money. The bill passed both houses with strong support and lets developers build facilities that make between 50 kilowatts and five megawatts — a step that many say will boost solar power options in Montana.
