- ➤ Missoula's Youth Mountain Bike Library offers free mountain bikes and helmets to kids from April through September, letting families ride the trails without extra cost. - ➤ Montana University System officials have hired Jeremiah Shinn as the new president of the University of Montana, replacing Seth Bodnar after a national search from over 70 candidates. - ➤ A group of 34 conservation organizations and businesses from Montana and Idaho sent a letter to the Canadian Environment ministry asking for an independent review panel for Glencore’s proposed mine expansion at Fording River in British Columbia. - ➤ The U.S. Forest Service will restructure its operations by moving its headquarters to Salt Lake City and converting regional centers to state offices while retaining the Rocky Mountain Research Lab in Missoula. - ➤ Missoula Redevelopment Agency has approved $80,000 in tax increment financing for design and engineering of a new four-block water main along Johnson St with connections to West Kent, West Central and West Sussex. - ➤ Missoula first responders completed a hazardous materials training at Glacier Ice Rink at the Missoula Fairgrounds on Thursday, Apr. 16—simulating an ammonia leak with full protective gear, while no threat to the public was present.
