  • Missoula’s Chick-fil-A on North Reserve Street will host a free friendship bracelet making event tomorrow, April 23 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.—Guests will make one bracelet using provided beads while staff help size wrists and count attendees.  Newstalk KGVO
  • Missoula Gives and Bitterroot Gives — a 26-hour fundraiser hosted by Missoula Community Foundation — will take place May 1st-2nd to connect local donors with over 200 nonprofits and raise $1.45 million in support of local causes. The event follows last year's record contributions from more than 4,000 donors and will benefit groups from cancer care to arts programs.  Newstalk KGVO

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Average gasoline prices in Montana dropped 1.2 cents to $3.12 per gallon today, according to GasBuddy's Patrick De Haan. The rate is 44.6 cents lower than last year yet remains 4.9 cents above last month's price—reflecting a national trend with prices falling in over 40 states.  Newstalk KGVO

  • Candidates for the Missoula County Public School Board answered a Missoulian questionnaire about tight education budgets, operational levies, and policy changes ahead of the May 6 election — voters will receive ballots on May 21.  Missoulian

  • On Monday, local leaders at the annual State of the Community meeting said federal cuts did not derail their work on diversity and keeping living costs affordable in Missoula. Mayor Andrea Davis, County Commissioner Juanita Vero and UM President Seth Bodnar detailed how job losses and grant changes prompted a continued push for better infrastructure, housing, and education—promising to work with Congress to protect community resources.  Missoulian
  • Missoula leaders met on April 21 at City Club to review local challenges and plan for affordable housing and clean energy + they based their discussion on community survey feedback and detailed projects, including a 45-acre housing initiative and a 50-megawatt renewable energy plan to help many families. Mayor Davis and Commissioner Vero also stressed enhancing government responsiveness while the University of Montana reported growth alongside concerns over declining college enrollment.  KPAX
  • The City of Missoula and its engineering partner have begun designing over one mile of new commuter trails in the greater Mullan area — one trail will run along Mullan Road from Reserve Street to Mary Jane Boulevard and the other along Flynn Lane from Siren Road to Camden Street. The Flynn trail is set for 2026 and the Mullan trail for 2027 as the project moves toward design and bidding.  KPAX
  • House Bill 456 will let daycare and preschool employees use the Best Beginnings Scholarship to help pay for childcare, and the bill passed in the House but was tabled in committee with the session ending in less than two weeks. Representative Jonathan Karlen said it would ease financial stress for workers at centers like Little Seeds in Billings—helping more parents work while keeping quality care available.  KPAX
  • Missoula County mailed nearly 76,000 ballots for school and special district elections on May 6 so voters will start receiving them Monday.
