- ➤ Lawmakers finalized votes on Tuesday for two property tax relief bills designed to lower taxes for primary homeowners and long-term rentals while raising them on second homes and short-term rentals; the bills face final House votes before heading to the governor, and some senators and lobbyists—such as Sen. Greg Hertz—raised constitutional concerns and warned of possible legal challenges if the proposals stray from their original purpose. Missoulian
- ➤ State lawmakers were frustrated by the hospital lobby that helped pass Medicaid expansion but blocked new rules for hospital costs and transparency—votes to cap prices and require full reports of community benefits were turned down. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Missoula providers have used a four-year federal grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration to expand youth crisis services and coordinate mental health care for local families. Partnership Health Center, Providence, Youth Homes Montana and other groups will use nearly $1 million per year to boost support through mobile crisis units and crisis stabilization beds — efforts that aim to reduce hospital visits and improve care in the community.
