  • The Five Valley Kennel Club Missoula Dog Show wrapped up after four days at the Missoula Fairgrounds, where dog handlers and their pets competed in conformation, rally, dock diving and dog races to win first place ribbons. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Plains-Paradise Rural Fire District said the Banana Lake Fire burned more than 600 acres near Locust Hill Lane in Plains from Saturday through Sunday as several agencies patrolled homes and highways—fire officials expect more activity later today while urging drivers on Highway 28 to travel cautiously.  KPAX

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Rep. Ryan Zinke filed 15 funding requests to Congress on Tuesday—asking for $64 million in support of western Montana projects that include a new sewage treatment plant in Seeley Lake, repairs to Noxon Bridge, a Ravalli County wastewater system, and a Philipsburg water line replacement. The proposals must pass both chambers of Congress—funding amounts may change as the appropriations process unfolds.  Missoulian
