  • Jill Bonny, executive director of the Poverello Center, warned that closing the Johnson Street shelter will remove over 170 low-barrier beds and force more people onto already stretched services—she urged investment in both low-barrier congregate and non-congregate shelters to better aid those with complex needs.   • On June 10th, 2025, police went to the 7700 block of Antelope Drive where 35-year-old Ethan Bellon, who was very drunk during a chaotic fight at home, hurt a deputy by trapping his hand with two handcuffs during his arrest & now faces charges including felony assault on a peace officer.  Newstalk KGVO

  • Today during National Dog Bite Awareness Month, Missoula letter carrier Mike Fitzgerald said he has faced dangerous encounters despite never being bitten, including a time when he had to jump over a fence to avoid charging dogs. Postmaster Jason Uskoski urged dog owners to keep pets securely indoors—advice that aims to ensure safe mail deliveries.  KPAX
  • Montanans showed anger over a Senate proposal that would allow selling up to 3.2 million acres of federal land in 11 western states—although Montana is not included.
