CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The Missoula County Attorney’s Office filed 16 new felony complaints this week for violent, endangerment, property, drug, and administrative crimes, and Deputy County Attorney Brittany Williams said upcoming trials and an inquest in the coming weeks will not pull jurors from Fourth of July plans—she hopes the crime numbers will soon drop. - ➤ The University of Montana will offer a new four-year Entertainment, Events and Sports Management (EESM) major starting this fall after the Board of Regents approved turning the long-running certificate into a degree program. - ➤ Missoula will begin a safety upgrade with a new roundabout at Scott and Phillips on July 7 in the Northside neighborhood + the project aims to ease traffic. The construction will take 45 days, and during this time the intersection and Scott Street Bridge will be closed + detours via Orange and Reserve streets will guide drivers and pedestrians. - ➤ On June 25, 2025, Governor Greg Gianforte joined law enforcement in Kalispell to honor Bobby’s Law, a new measure that increases penalties for drivers who kill someone while driving under the influence. The law, prompted by the 2023 fatal crash that claimed Bobby Dewbre’s life in Columbia Falls, imposes a minimum three-year sentence for offenders with blood alcohol levels more than twice the legal limit + community officials say it supports stronger DUI enforcement.
