Missoula celebrated the first year of safe Clark Fork River access points Friday, marking a decade-long project that restored 60 public access sites and stabilized 600 linear feet of bank.

The event featured a tour, ice cream, and a mayor visit.

Crews and volunteer partners cleared and maintained more than 60% of the 1,800-mile trail network in Bitterroot National Forest over the past four years to keep Montana’s backcountry accessible.

The work shows strong public support for local outdoor recreation (and helps preserve natural spaces).
