CRIME NEWS

  • On August 22nd, a Missoula County Sheriff’s Office corporal stopped a black GMC Acadia along Expressway and found drugs when he observed a missing headlight and front bumper—Tyler Huetter admitted to having marijuana and psychedelic mushrooms and he is now charged with felony possession of dangerous drugs and a no insurance offense.  Newstalk KGVO

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • On Friday, the Alliance for the Wild Rockies filed a lawsuit in federal court to stop logging near bull trout spawning streams in the Lolo National Forest—saying that planned haul roads and log hauling under the Redd Bull 2 project will further harm fish habitat and violate the Endangered Species Act.  Missoula Current
  • Volunteers in Missoula mapped local heat islands yesterday by using sensor-equipped cars to gather temperature and humidity data across several neighborhoods, a project led by County Climate Action and Climate Smart Missoula (aiming to guide tree planting and cooling centers). GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Public Service Commissioner Fielder has called on Governor Gianforte to suspend PSC President Molnar—accused of blocking an internal investigation into misconduct. Molnar denies interfering and called the request unlawful, while the governor’s office said it will review the complaint and follow due process.  Missoula Current
  • Riverside Contracting and WGM Group are asking to extend the Phase 1 submittal deadline by three years while planning a public water and wastewater system to match the Wye Infrastructure Plan. The 160-acre project with 36 lots will have its request reviewed by the county on Thursday—ensuring plans reflect new water options.  Missoula Current
  • Missoula County approved joining three opioid settlement agreements that may bring more than $1 million to help fight the opioid crisis—funds will be spent over several years on treatment and outreach, including a deal with Purdue Pharma and another with eight smaller manufacturers.  Missoula Current
  • The Riverside Industrial Subdivision, a 36 lot project planned southwest of the Wye and approved in two phases, is seeking to extend its Phase 1 submittal deadline by three years so it can plan for alternative water and wastewater options in line with the Wye Infrastructure Plan—county planners will consider the request on Thursday.  KPAX
