CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On August 31st at 1:09 p.m., a Missoula officer arrested 28-year-old Drew Wombold near the 2 mile marker of Kim Williams Trail when an active warrant was confirmed (a search found a brown wallet, a bottle of methadone, and an unused needle) and later a ziplock bag (holding .4 grams that tested positive for methamphetamine) led to a felony drug charge. - ➤ On August 24, a Missoula officer saw 24-year-old Daniel Rios riding a red ATV without a helmet or registration on East Broadway when he sped away after the officer signaled a stop, and on August 25, officers located Rios on Vine Street after calls of erratic driving and arrested him on multiple felony charges — including criminal endangerment and drug offenses. - ➤ A woman left Crooked Tree Ranch early May after alleging spiritual abuse and coercive religious practices at the anti-human trafficking safe house in the Bitterroot Valley—she is one of four women and two children who have since departed and sought help in Missoula, saying the ranch’s use of neurofeedback and strict religious expectations made her feel controlled. - ➤ State health officials asked the federal government to allow early implementation of Medicaid work requirements that will require enrollees from 19 to 64 to work 80 hours each month, with exemptions for people with disabilities, tribal memberships, or college enrollment — and the state plans to charge monthly premiums for those on Medicaid expansion.
