GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A consulting firm unveiled a flexible redevelopment vision for the city-owned parcel off Johnson Street that offers plans for multi-family housing and townhomes for various income levels. - ➤ Missoula City Council approved a plan that lets Ward 1 voters choose their next council member in November instead of having members appoint one—this follows Jennifer Savage’s move from the ward and introduces candidates Elizabeth Craske and Lucas Moody. - ➤ On Tuesday, a Helena district court judge awarded nearly $3M in attorney fees to the 16 plaintiffs in Held v Montana—an order following a 2023 trial that showed state greenhouse gas policies harmed their right to a clean environment. - ➤ The Missoula City Council ruled that the Historic Preservation Commission erred in denying FAE Missoula a demolition permit for Old Post Hospital and returned the case to the historic preservation officer—who has 30 days to meet with FAE and develop a new redevelopment plan that may include restoration options. - ➤ Nine veterans took part in the Wounded Warrior Project's Rolling Project Odyssey in Billings, a 12 week program that uses motorcycle riding as therapy for PTSD and isolation. - ➤ Today, Community Medical Center held a cord-cutting ceremony for its new birthing center as St. Patrick's Hospital prepares to close its maternity center next month.
