  • Missoula is changing its zoning rules to help workers like teachers and nurses get affordable housing near their jobs. The new rules will allow for more rentals and starter homes—helping reduce long commutes and support our local community.  Missoula Current

CRIME NEWS

  • Students at Montana colleges have made TikTok videos of themselves urinating in public, and Billings Police warn that such acts are crimes with offenders facing charges like indecent exposure — penalties that might lead to sex offender registration.  KPAX

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The University of Montana reported fall enrollment of 11,064 students with a record retention rate of 77.2% that marks its fifth year of growth. It has grown more than 16% since 2021 — adding 1,562 students — and is meeting the state's workforce needs with noncredit programs serving 10,387 learners between July 1 and June 30.  Newstalk KGVO

  • Today, University of Montana researchers led by Ph.D. student Wesley Sarmento are testing an automated drone that uses artificial intelligence to guide bears and deer away from busy campus areas to reduce human-wildlife conflict — the team plans to refine the system with a new grant and additional student training.  KPAX

  • On Saturday, the No. 4-ranked Montana State Bobcats hosted Eastern Washington during their Homecoming game and won 57-3—marking head coach Brent Vigen’s 50th win as the team outgained its opponent in total yards. Montana State will play Northern Arizona next week.  Missoulian
  • The Montana Grizzlies will host the Idaho Vandals this Saturday at Washington-Grizzly Stadium in a top-10 late night matchup on ESPN2.
