COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Missoula’s Watershed Navigation Center opened this year to reduce homelessness and crime by connecting people with housing and essential support—officials say the program also aims to ease jail crowding as more locals seek help.  Missoulian
  • The Historical Museum at Fort Missoula will host its annual Fall Harvest Festival on October 5 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and will offer apple pressing demonstrations, cabin tours, sawmill shows and fall crafts. Admission is free—donations to the Friends of the Historical Museum and nonperishable food for the Missoula Food Bank are welcome.  Newstalk KGVO

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Mr. Higgins Vintage Shop has reopened on Russell Street with a mix of vintage clothes, collectibles, and homey decor — the store closed in 2008 when owner Barbara Dryden cared for her ailing mother and now offers customers a unique space with vintage kitchenware and a turquoise tub used as a changing room.  Newstalk KGVO

  • Today, All Time Low performs at Kettlehouse Amphitheater at 7 p.m.—the Beach Boys will bring their concert tomorrow. Missoula residents can also join a Taylor Swift release party and a fall harvest festival featuring apple cider making on Sunday.  Newstalk KGVO
  • On Friday, hundreds lined up outside the Wilma as it offered $10 tickets for most upcoming shows to mark 10 years since its reopening after renovations—fans celebrated this local milestone with great excitement.  Missoulian

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Missoula Infrastructure Coalition endorses a proposed $1.8 million levy on the November ballot which will add about $2 a month to homeowners' taxes if passed so the county can boost funds for repairing roads and bridges. Supporters say the levy will help meet urgent repair needs and unlock state and federal matching grants.  Missoula Current
  • Bozeman enacted its strict urban camping ban on Oct. 1—fining violators up to $500 and imposing jail time, while Missoula uses lighter rules that fine camping in public parks at $50 and require tents to be taken down during the day. Missoula also now offers vehicle camping permits and creates buffer zones by trails, schools, and businesses to balance safety with housing challenges.  Newstalk KGVO

  • Wally and Buck's burger bar in Missoula was named Montana's best burger when fans voted for its Wally Burger loaded with Tallamook cheddar, bacon jam and fresh vegetables on a brioche bun—local customers are excited about the win.  Missoula Current
