EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Montana Technological (in Butte) and the University of Montana (in Missoula) have been named on the Princeton Review’s 2026 Best Colleges guide, an honor earned by only about 15% of nearly 2,400 schools. - ➤ Carrie Hunt, a University of Montana graduate, invented bear spray in the 1980s to help stop dangerous bear encounters before they led to deadly force. Her work over the past 40 years has given people a safe way to live with bears—her spray remains a key tool for wildlife safety. Newstalk KGVO
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Missoula Rural Fire District secured a grant of over $139,000 through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program to buy new ambulance equipment and boost emergency medical care. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Community Medical Center welcomed expecting mothers at an open house—giving them a tour of its labor and delivery facilities—while preparing for a transition from Providence St. Patrick's Family Maternity Center on Oct. 10, and between 400 and 450 patients are set to deliver there—adding staff and equipment to meet the incoming volume. - ➤ Missoula Big Sky and Helena Capital girls soccer teams battled to a 2-2 draw Saturday in Missoula, marking the first time in several games that neither team lost. Missoulian
