Franke Endowed Faculty Chair in Forest Conservation—he will oversee student training in forest processes and remote-sensing to ensure students learn sustainable forest management. • Today, the EPA agreed to test water samples from local rivers—Clark Fork, Bitterroot, and Blackfoot—to measure how much contamination is linked to wood-processing plants including the shuttered Smurfit-Stone pulp mill. The agency is deploying displaced scientists to review months of fish tissue and water data while local groups watch for clearer answers on river pollution.  KPAX
