COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The University of Montana announced its Grizzlies will wear throwback copper and gold uniforms featuring the original snarling Griz logo for the Homecoming football game against Cal Poly Mustangs on Saturday. The Glacier Institute has served as Glacier National Park’s education partner since 1983—Missoula reported only one bear sighting this fall, credited to durable trash enclosures and a strong natural food year.  KPAX
  • Missoula County’s Community Assistance Fund has granted about $22,000 to Seeley Lake to keep its low-cost medical shuttle running—volunteer drivers have given over 3,000 rides to help aging residents get to medical appointments and now need more volunteers.  KPAX

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City leaders are reworking downtown so that Front and Main become two-way and Higgins is reduced to three lanes, with plans to renew riverfront trails and add a ramp from Beartracks Bridge — all funded by a $24 million federal grant through the Downtown Safety, Access and Mobility Project. The city will hold an open house at the Missoula Public Library from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. today for residents to learn more about these changes.  KPAX
  • Two groups filed a motion with the Montana Supreme Court on Monday after Attorney General Austin Knudsen changed approved ballot language for a constitutional amendment to keep court races nonpartisan. The lawsuit says the change confuses voters by suggesting judicial candidates are partisan and could set a dangerous precedent for future ballot initiatives.  Missoula Current
  • Missoula City Council approved a 671-unit subdivision near the airport to address rapid growth and follow local neighborhood plans—residents raised concerns about the impact on local schools.  Missoulian

HEALTH NEWS

  • Health officials in Montana are urging residents to take precautions as flu, RSV, and COVID cases are rising; they noted that cooler weather keeps germs alive longer — putting young children, the elderly, and pregnant women at higher risk.  KPAX
