ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Six groups and three individuals filed a complaint in Lewis and Clark County court, saying the state allowed too many exempt wells that ignore court rulings and hurt water rights during the drought. • Missoula may add 23 acres to its open space when the city council considers a fully donated Gleneagle Conservation Easement from SEV Enterprises—owned by Peter and Kristen von Doersten—next week. The land near North Hills protects winter range for elk and scenic views though future trail and maintenance work will cost extra.  Missoula Current

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City Council's Climate, Conservation and Parks Committee approved a resolution that will swap funding sources—applying remaining 2006 Open Space Bond funds to the Inderland-LaValle Creek Conservation Easement and moving the Hayden Conservation Easement to the 2018 bond to prevent losing tax-exempt status. County officials and the bond council asked for the change to close out the 2006 bond, and no extra dollars are being requested.  Missoula Current
