GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Montana organizations have asked state regulators to create a new rate class that would require data centers to pay for necessary power upgrades—Earthjustice filed a complaint on behalf of nine groups after NorthWestern Energy planned to supply up to 1,400 megawatts for three developers. • After two days of debate, the Montana Public Service Commission approved a partial rate increase for NorthWestern Energy—allowing the utility to claim about $19 million for costs from a two-month construction delay at its natural gas power plant. The decision is expected to save ratepayers $43 million and comes as the commission prepares to review NorthWestern’s planned merger with Black Hills Corp.  KPAX
  • Authorities in Missoula County are addressing concerns about feral horses that have roamed near Miller Creek and the Bitterroot Valley for decades—raising safety issues for residents and local livestock. County officials will gather expert advice and ask for public feedback in early 2026.  MontanaRightNow
  • Missoula invites residents to share input on upcoming city projects including a Midtown one-acre park and upgrades to the West Broadway River Corridor — the public feedback period remains open until December 14th.
