  • Montana Pittie Project, a statewide rescue group that started in 2020 and saved over 1,000 bully breed dogs, rescued seven pit bull pups from an abandoned house in Central Texas and will bring them in early December—community members are asked to help find new homes for the pups.  KPAX
  • Missoula beat Bozeman in the Can the Cats food drive by raising over one million pounds of food and money this year, marking the first time in four years that Missoula collected more donations than Bozeman. The friendly competition saw Missoula exceed Bozeman’s totals by over 73,000 pounds (with every donated dollar equaling one pound of food).  Newstalk KGVO
  • A little library on Sherwood Street has become a community hub for poetry and group gatherings as Please Poetry Library checks out 600 donated books and hosts events like Monday soup nights, its co-founders said—hoping to bring local residents together to share art and conversation.  KPAX

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The Missoula Rural Fire District is sharing cooking safety tips ahead of Thanksgiving as data shows nearly 1,500 home cooking fires occur on that day with a 388% increase over the daily average. Experts stress staying near the stove and keeping flammable items away—steps meant to reduce the risk of kitchen fires during the holiday season.  KPAX

  • A documentary from the University of Montana School of Journalism will air tonight at 6 p.m. on MTN’s The Spot about Highway 212—a dangerous 140-mile road across two reservations that has claimed hundreds of lives. ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Montana have held steady for 11 weeks as Missoula stations continue charging an average of $2.99 per gallon. GasBuddy reported a 0.3 cent drop from last week & that prices are 4.4 cents lower than a month ago and 6.2 cents higher than a year ago.  Newstalk KGVO

  • Over 300 high school students gathered at the University Commons in Missoula for the 60th Montana Model United Nations Conference that started on Saturday and continues today — they are tackling topics like Haiti’s political situation and A.I. in military use while learning leadership from University of Montana students.  KPAX

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Dave Stalling argues that hunters now using camouflage and attractants for elk and deer are forcing grizzly bears to leave their usual feeding areas and come closer to human spaces as their natural food declines—raising the risk of dangerous encounters. He calls for better education and respect for bear behavior so that grizzlies can recover in safer, protected areas.  Missoula Current
  • A $250,000 grant awarded to the City of Missoula on Friday will help the city plan clean energy projects—boosting energy efficiency and meeting growing power needs with renewables. The funding is set to lower electricity prices and support local jobs.  KPAX
