  • Northwest Montana is in the final week of general deer and elk hunting season that will end on Sunday, November 30. More than 9,000+ hunters have been checked at four stations with 10.5 percent reporting a harvest as officials urge testing for Chronic Wasting Disease and expect colder weather to help boost stalking success.  KPAX

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • NorthWestern Energy said that part of the new Colstrip shares it will acquire on January 1, 2026 will go to a new subsidiary — one not regulated by the Public Service Commission— that will sell energy wholesale under a 21-month contract with Mercuria Energy America. The Public Service Commission has hired outside counsel and raised questions about whether the move might lead to higher customer costs.  Missoula Current
  • Missoula city has lowered speed limits on key roads—drivers on Highway 93 between Reed Lane and Buckhouse Bridge must now drive at 55 mph instead of 65 mph, and West Broadway from Palmer Street to the Reserve Street exits is reduced from 45 mph to 40 mph. Drivers should check posted signs as the new limits are now in effect.  Newstalk KGVO
