GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Montana property owners can now apply for a homestead tax exemption on their primary residences and long-term rentals—starting in 2026, rates will drop for enrolled homes and rise for others. - ➤ Missoula Parks and Rec is planning to revive the Clark Fork corridor west of Beartracks Bridge — the project will shift the main water flow to create safer rapids and better habitat for wildlife. If approved by the City Council, planning will begin in 2026 and work is expected to start early summer 2027. KPAX
- ➤ FWP announced new hunting regulation amendments ahead of a Thursday meeting to set rules for the 2026-2027 season after last year's no-notice changes drew criticism. Many sportsmen worry that residents may not see these amendments in time due to short notice and limited public comment periods — the commission may accept more proposals before the meeting. Montana campers are advised to check their stoves and stop using any recalled models for safety—this step is critical to avoiding fire hazards in the backcountry. Newstalk KGVO
