BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Table Trac Inc. confirmed a deal to upgrade the Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribes’ gaming sites using its CasinoTrac system. The installation starts immediately at existing locations and will cover planned sites as staff trains on the new modules. Newstalk KGVO
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Researchers at Utah State University are testing FlashTags (motion-activated LED ear tags) on local livestock to help ranchers prevent predator attacks by triggering random flashing patterns. The tags showed no negative effects on the animals, and improvements are planned based on early results. Newstalk KGVO
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The University of Montana opened the BEAR Lab, a facility to study links between hearing loss and brain function, in the fall at the basement of Curry Health Center on campus. Researchers plan to begin patient testing next year using partnerships with a local ENT center and physical therapy program. KPAX
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Flooding in Libby on Dec. 11 raised concerns about stirring historic mine waste near a Superfund site. Environmental officials said there is no immediate asbestos risk — residents are advised to boil water while further inspections are planned as floodwaters recede. KPAX
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The Montana Grizzlies won 52-22 in their quarterfinal playoff game against South Dakota Coyotes on Saturday at Washington-Grizzly Stadium (broadcast on ABC) and secured a semifinal spot while breaking the school record with 6,508 total postseason yards. Missoula Current
