COMMUNITY NEWS

  • After a weather postponement last Friday, Santa flew over Missoula at 6:30 p.m. Monday night in his annual holiday flight that delighted the community.  KPAX

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Most gas stations in Missoula set prices at $2.83 per gallon on Monday after a 2.2-cent drop over the past week; analyst Patrick De Haan noted prices are 15 cents lower than a month ago and 10.3 cents above last year’s average.  Newstalk KGVO
  • A Headwaters Economics and Columbia Climate School report finds that wildfires and rapid home building have driven rising property insurance premiums in Montana. The report outlines five strategies (including community risk pooling and parametric policies) that state officials may consider as legislative discussions continue.  Missoula Current

EDUCATION NEWS

  • University of Montana President Seth Bodnar reflected on the year’s achievements in his final UM Minute interview on Monday before winter break, offering insights on campus progress and future plans. The series will resume in February.  KPAX
  • Montana libraries are welcoming free user-friendly telescopes as the University of Montana partners with NASA to launch the Big Sky, Bigger Dreams program.   • Montana State advanced to the FCS title game after Taco Dowler's 87-yard touchdown powered a 28-0 run in the first-ever postseason Brawl of the Wild contest against Montana.  Missoulian
  • Blacktail Mountain Ski Area will open tomorrow with lifts running from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and it will operate seven days a week until January 4 with adjusted hours on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.  KPAX
