Arts held its Summer Ignite Conference June 19—20 at the University of Montana School of Education, offering free professional development in arts-integrated teaching for elementary and middle school educators as part of the Kennedy Center’s Any Given Child initiative and celebrating its 10th anniversary. Local teaching artist Jesse Blumenthal led a live iron pouring demonstration with 13 iron artists from five states, casting 27 molds and 35 keep‑sake iron tiles to mark the event. KPAX

- ➤ Missoula County is reviewing a plan to build six- and eight-plex apartments off Highway 93 near the Wye, an area set for change in the coming years. The proposal by Miramonte Manley Lofts LLC and IMEG has most permits approved+ a traffic study indicates future developments may lead to a new signal at the intersection with an estimated cost of $1.8 million. - ➤ Missoula County is looking at an urban-style housing project near the Wye on Highway 93 and Waldo Road—proposed by Miramonte Manley Lofts LLC—that would add six- and eight-plex apartments to a site now zoned for commercial use.
