The third try was the charm. The Spartans had lost their other two state championship matches, but they beat Gallatin 1-0 on Saturday, Oct. 31, for the program's first Class AA title. Senior Braylee Smith scored off an assist from junior Eliza Ascher, the Bozeman Daily Chronicle reports, and keeper Joslyn Calahan preserved the clean sheet.
Every team banner in Sentinel's gym shows a state title except girls' soccer. "We got ours now," coach Dan Lochridge said. Later Saturday, the boys won their Class AA title too, beating Bozeman 2-0 at Fort Missoula, MontanaSports.com reports.

- Gallatin: Class AA runner-up three seasons in a row
- Gallatin's goalkeeper: Auna Litzen, with a couple big saves
