If you've ever eaten at the Depot or watched kids pile onto the carousel, you've seen Larry Pirnie's work. The Western artist died Monday, and his colorful paintings of cowboys, horses and the Montana landscape became a familiar sight across the state, including here in Missoula.
Montana State News Network says his art is in the Depot's logo, menus and wall art. It also says he volunteered his time to create Paint, a horse on A Carousel for Missoula. Paint is one of the first horses kids tend to pick.
