It's the 10th game of the season for the Griz, and it's at home. Montana (6-3, 4-2 Big Sky) is coming off a win over Eastern Washington, its first win in nearly a month. Portland State comes in 2-7 under new coach Chris Fisk.

Montana's defense is the story. Coach Bobby Kennedy called the Vikings "a gritty group" and said of Fisk, "this guy's going to get it going there. Hopefully not this week, right?"

Freezing fog is likely to return Saturday morning, with a slim chance of valley rain Sunday

If you're up early Saturday, watch for fog. A weak system breaks up the low stratus and fog Friday afternoon and evening, but freezing fog and low stratus are likely to redevelop by morning.

Three weak systems move through before high pressure returns

  1. Nov. 6A weak disturbance temporarily breaks up low stratus and fog.
  2. Nov. 7Freezing fog and low stratus are likely to redevelop by morning.
  3. Nov. 8Another disturbance brings a slight chance of valley rain.
  4. Nov. 10A third weak system may keep inversions from strengthening too quickly.

Next week, high pressure returns, and strong valley inversions could bring morning fog, low clouds and gradually cooler highs in Missoula.

  • Saturday: freezing fog and low stratus likely by morning
  • Sunday: slight chance of snow above 5,500 feet in northwest Montana
  • Sunday mountain gusts: 30-40 mph possible
  • Tuesday: a third weak system may slow inversions

Gusts east of the divide could top 80 mph this weekend

East of the divide, the wind is the story. A runs until 9 a.m. Saturday for the East Glacier Park Region and parts of the Northern and Southern High Plains, including the Rocky Mountain Front, and a High Wind Watch covers Sunday for gusts up to 85 mph.
